In January of this year, I turned 60. I've been reflecting lately on how blessed I've been in my life. I was provided with a family who loved me and provided many opportunities for me. I've had terrific friends during all stages of my life. I have a husband, 2 children and a grandchild who enrich my life daily. Those of you who are reading this have been a part of my journey, and I thank you for the role you've played in my life.
As I was nearing retirement several years ago, I prayed that God would give me purpose in my retirement. I was introduced to Family Promise of Lycoming County. The organization was still in the planning stages when I started working with them. FPLC has been offering food, shelter and individualized, intensive case management for homeless children and their families for nearly 4 years.
The children you see in the photos at the top of this page have not had the same opportunities many of us had early in life. Their parents loved them just as our parents loved us. However, due to a variety of circumstances, they were without a safe place to live. Their parents came to Family Promise of Lycoming County and found the help they needed. Food and housing were provided while the parents worked hard to overcome the obstacles that led to their family being homeless. Through Family Promise, hope was restored and the children are in a better situation.
Please join me in my passion to provide a better life for homeless children through Family Promise of Lycoming County. My goal for my 60th birthday is to have 60 people give $60 to Family Promise in 60 days. Simply click the link below and make a difference. Thank you.
